There are several projects I'm involved in which are not related to my job title, but they are part of my role as I'm an ex Lumen EMEA. Let me give you couple examples: * Colt has recently deployed additional IP infrastructures in Porto, I need to make sure we have a path to grow with our peers locally. * Colt is deploying new IP infrastructures in Athens, and I need to make sure we anticipate adequate peering setup locally. * Colt plans to leverage the former Lumen IP infrastructures in Johannesburg to trigger new business activities, I need to make sure our legacy peering setup can support it and potentially discuss upgrades. Whatever your decision is we will respect it 100%, however looking at some participants below, I'm surprised to see those same criteria were not applied, unless I'm missing something... Re: [epf-orga] EPF 2026 - registration declined

by Artur Mendes

Dear Carolin, Thank you for your clarification. I fully understand that you cannot discuss or compare individual registration decisions, and that is not what I am asking you to do. My question is about the general criteria and principles used to determine eligibility, rather than about the registration of any particular individual. In your previous message, you mentioned that participation criteria are applied consistently, while also taking into account the specific context and role of each attendee. This is precisely the point I am trying to understand: what are the general criteria, and how are they applied consistently across different cases? I am not asking you to justify why a particular person was accepted, nor am I suggesting that anyone else's registration should be changed. I am simply trying to understand what distinguishes an eligible commercial/sales participant from one who is not, particularly when the criteria appear to allow for exceptions based on role or relationship to the event. For me, this is not about comparing individuals or challenging a specific decision. It is about understanding whether there is a clear, objective and consistently applicable framework that can be applied equally to participants from different companies. I have attended EPF in the previous two years without any issue, so naturally I would like to understand what has changed in the criteria or in my eligibility this year. I would therefore appreciate it if you could clarify the general eligibility criteria, without referring to or discussing any individual registration. Thank you for your time and consideration. Hi Rob, you are absolutely right. If an IXP does not want to give their update, that should not prevent the other IXPs from giving an update from their region. If Netnod wants to present something, please send the slides to the PC. Dear Artur, appreciate your understanding that we are not able to discuss or compare individual registration decisions in detail. The decision regarding your registration remains unchanged. You mentioned that the only exceptions for sales roles are speakers or sponsors, yet from the list I identified two examples of individuals who are neither speakers nor sponsors, are not employed in those capacities, and are not even peering contacts, and who have still been registered for this event while I have been declined despite having participated in the last two years without any complaints: Bora Daja, who is our account at Zayo, and Dylan Carver, the Head of Sales at AFR-Telecom. Despite my clear interest in participating, I would appreciate further clarification so I can better understand the criteria being applied. Re: [epf-orga] IXP Update at EPF 2026

by Rob Allen

Hi Arnold, Karin will present the Netnod update (5 mins) on the Monday morning session. >From our side, I have to say we don't agree with this sudden change of direction on the CEO updates. Your suggestion that either all or none of the IXPs give updates on Monday morning seems to have bypassed the other members of the EPF-PC. If an IXP does not want to give their update, that should not prevent the other IXPs from giving an update from their region. So I respectfully request we dispense with your suggestion, and continue to schedule the IXP updates as planned. If an IXP chooses not present, it won't affect the agenda in any negative way and we will just go to the first break a few minutes early. If we want to discuss the necessity of these talks for future EPFs, I believe that is a longer conversation that needs to take place with all relevant parties more than 1 week before the EPF.
