Re: [epf-orga] [EXT] AW: EPF19: your registration -PeeringDB/ProVision/Hilco Global (late fee)
Aaron, Thank you for your message. To clarify, 6Connect is indeed an AMS-IX customer, and AS8038 is still peering. However, the relevant entity for the EPF attendance qualification is 6Connect, not Hilco. You may participate in the EPF, but only under the company name 6Connect. Hilco itself does not peer, and therefore cannot qualify as the peering entity for EPF participation. Unfortunately, the colleagues from Hilco (Giulia and Colin), cannot participate in the EPF. In addition to being affiliated with Hilco, their current job functions are not related to peering or interconnection, which is a requirement for participation. The acquisition itself is therefore not the reason for the change in qualification. The key point is that EPF attendance is tied to the peering entity and the attendee’s role/function in relation to peering. For further clarification, you can also refer to the EPF Attendee Policy on the EPF website which outlines the applicable participation criteria. I hope this clarifies the situation. Carolin,
AS8038 is still ours and is peering. Our need to exchange traffic at IXes has increased due to this acquisition and expansion of services. I don’t understand why this acquisition would change our qualification to attend. Can you clarify please?
Cheers, Aaron —

Hi Aaron,
We received the information from Giulia that 6connect has been acquired by Hilco Global. We were not aware of this before.
As we understand it, 6connect no longer exists as a separate entity. Therefore, the 6connect AS number cannot be used to register for EPF under Hilco Global. Based on this, we will unfortunately have to decline your registration.
Hilco Global is currently not peering at any of the four EPF host IXPs or the guest IXP.
Therefore, the only way for Hilco Global to attend EPF is by becoming a sponsor.
Please let me know if you are interested in sponsoring EPF. We would be happy to provide you with more information about the available sponsorship options.
Best regards on behalf of the hosts Carolin
