Re: [epf-orga] Thank you for registering for EPF 2026
Hi Bettina, Thanks for letting us know. We noticed that Emmanuels current job title is Regional Sales Director, Strategic Alliances. In this context, we would like to refer to our attendee policy for EPF: The EPF is a networking event for the peering community, not a commercial event. As such, any commercial/sales personnel from the participating networks are discouraged from registering. We therefore wanted to flag this and kindly ask you to consider whether Emmanuels role is in line with the attendee policy. Thanks very much for your understanding and cooperation. Hi Carolin, I double checked with Emmanuel and he is in fact in charge of Business Development, looking for partnerships to open new PoPs in new markets. Dear Bettina, Thank you for the clarification and for the additional context regarding Emmanuels role. We certainly understand the relevance of his Business Development responsibilities and the potential value of engaging with Internet Exchanges in the context of new PoPs and market expansion. However, the EPF has specific participation criteria, and unfortunately Emmanuels current role does not meet the criteria for participation. Therefore, we would not be able to approve his attendance at this stage. We very much appreciate your understanding, and thank you again for reaching out and for providing the additional information. Hi Carolin, As much as I understand there are participation criteria, they might not just apply to a job title but more to a role. There are several projects I'm involved in which are not related to my job title, but they are part of my role as I'm an ex Lumen EMEA. Let me give you couple examples: * Colt has recently deployed additional IP infrastructures in Porto, I need to make sure we have a path to grow with our peers locally. * Colt is deploying new IP infrastructures in Athens, and I need to make sure we anticipate adequate peering setup locally. * Colt plans to leverage the former Lumen IP infrastructures in Johannesburg to trigger new business activities, I need to make sure our legacy peering setup can support it and potentially discuss upgrades. Whatever your decision is we will respect it 100%, however looking at some participants below, I'm surprised to see those same criteria were not applied, unless I'm missing something... Hello all, Emanuel Arnoud has provided further details showing that he is involved in several peering-related projects at Colt. Based on his description, there is a reasonable argument that his actual role is relevant to EPF, even if his job title does not explicitly reflect a peering function. Question : Do we consider his actual responsibilities sufficient to meet the EPF 2026 participation criteria and allow him to attend, or do we maintain the current decision based on the revised criteria? If we maintain the decision, we should avoid discussing individual cases or comparing him with other participants. Any thoughts? Looking at the attendee list, we have not been consistent with approvals/rejections based on job titles. I would agree to let him in this year. But we need to discuss the attendee policy and approval process for next year. It would be easier for the one handling registration (in this case, you) to have a clear guide so we can minimize the checks and debates for individual cases. Indeed he will have to settle charges via credit card. I checked internally whether “London Internet Exchange Trading Limited” is a registered vendor in our systems and this is not the case (only “London Internet Exchange Limited”). Arranging vendor set-up within such a short turnaround is too risky, we would need input from LINX and ensure rapid payment. We certainly understand the relevance of his Business Development responsibilities and the potential value of engaging with Internet Exchanges in the context of new PoPs and market expansion. However, the EPF has specific participation criteria, and unfortunately Emmanuel’s current role does not meet the criteria for participation. Therefore, we would not be able to approve his attendance at this stage. We very much appreciate your understanding, and thank you again for reaching out and for providing the additional information. We noticed that Emmanuel’s current job title is Regional Sales Director, Strategic Alliances. As such, any commercial/sales personnel from the participating networks are discouraged from registering.” We therefore wanted to flag this and kindly ask you to consider whether Emmanuel’s role is in line with the attendee policy.
